2026 CRS Meeting Highlights
For the first time, in too many years, our schedule allowed us to attend the annual Creation Research Society (CRS) meeting, held this July in Pensacola, Florida. It was a wonderful gathering of Christians researching God’s Creation from a Biblical perspective, and I highly recommend that anyone interested in understanding science and history from a Scriptural viewpoint join CRS and attend these annual meetings. Here are a few highlights:
Iron Preservation of Soft Dinosaur Tissue Shown to be Totally Bogus
In 2005, Dr. Mary Schweitzer reported—through a widely publicized discovery—that undecayed tissue was found within fossilized T‑Rex bones. Subsequent discoveries have revealed measurable amounts of chromosomes, proteins, blood cells, nerve bundles, and osteocytes (bone‑forming cells) present in dinosaur fossils. These discoveries were initially highly controversial because the scientific community understood that such fragile organic structures could not survive for millions of years.
Almost a decade after her initial discovery, Dr. Schweitzer reported that iron from blood was the primary reason these organic tissues were preserved. Since then, whenever the subject of tissue preservation is raised, iron preservation is stated as the cause. What is almost never reported is that Schweitzer’s method for determining the amount of decay was based solely on visual comparison of tissue samples. And now, for the rest of the story…
CRS and ICR scientists decided to repeat Schweitzer’s experiment—except they used a quantitative method to accurately measure how much of the original protein molecules remain over time at higher temperatures, both with and without iron. The results of this much more highly controlled experiment revealed that the decay rate for bone proteins was statistically identical with or without iron present. It confirmed the rapid decay of protein molecules, and they could last (at most) hundreds of thousands of years—not millions—regardless of the presence of iron.
This means that dinosaur fossils, and hundreds of other documented examples of proteins still present within fossils throughout the rock layers of the earth, cannot be millions of years old. Therefore, the rock layers cannot be millions of years old.
So what when awry with Schweitzer’s iron preservation experiment? One likely answer is that microbes consumed the blood vessels that did not contain the iron, causing rapid and visual degradation. Iron acts as an antibacterial agent, preserving the blood vessels better. If iron merely kept germs at bay, then Dr. Schweitzer’s team mistook biological degradation for chemical decay (which the team did not test for).
But don’t expect to hear anything about this in online articles, textbooks, or movies (such as Jurassic World, which immediately publicized the “iron‑preserved dinosaur tissue” misinformation in its 2015 release) anytime soon. This bogus iron preservation fantasy is one of the few threads those who promote ‘millions of years’ as a ‘fact of science’ have to hang from, in order to promote their evolutionary belief system.
Biblical Knowledge Source
Barna reports that we have reached the point in America where only 5% of Christians have a consistent Biblical viewpoint of science, history, and morality. If we are going to credibly reach the increasingly unsaved world around us, we need to be knowledgeable, accurate, and able to clearly present what the Bible has to say in these areas. CRS has launched the Research Assistant Database (RAD) as a repository of creation research information. It contains abstracts from tens of thousands of articles dealing with science and the Bible—well‑researched, well‑documented, and searchable. You can find it at: RAD.creationeducation.org
Kenya Mission Trip Summary
Our July trip to Kenya was probably one of the best trips that we have ever had anywhere – not because of anything we did, but because of what the Lord did. We had many logistical and health challenges for our team in preparation for this trip starting with a key team member needing to return to the U.S. only 2 days after arriving in Africa due to a family medical situation – which left us with only 3 speakers spread across 2 teams. I also returned with a bad case of the flu that took almost 3 weeks to fully recover from – contributing to the need to move the planned August 2026 El Salvador trip into 2027.
In advance of our trip to Kenya there were school closures in the area where we would be ministering because some students refused to attend classes and set fire to their dormitories. This rebellion spread to about 30 schools in different parts of the country and 16 girls died. We always pray that the Lord will go before us to prepare hearts and this time Jesus used tragedy to answer those prayers. At one of the schools the boys were sleeping outside because their dormitory burned down.
Amid all of the challenges, the Lord gave us great favor with the principals. One of them postponed their national exam to allow us to speak to the entire student body. This had never happened before! As we learned what had taken place in the schools, we were able use the Bible’s command to NOT be conformed to the thinking and behavior of this world (Romans 12:2) to specifically address the peer pressure that led to the spread of the rebellion across their nation. This was the perfect lead in for the Gospel, and students were fully engaged as we presented the origin of sin, the consequences and penalty of sin, and the only solution that God provided where we might be saved. We convincingly showed that since Genesis 1:1 is true, then John 3:3, John 3:16-20, John 3:36 and John14:6 are just as true. Many principals were convinced that we were there for such a time as this.
Every principal expressed sincere gratitude and was insistent that we come back again. Word of our coming also spread to other schools in the area and those principals whose schools we could not visit were very disappointed. In just two weeks, our small (but powerful) team of speakers (Darren & Brenda Nettrouer, Tim Cooper, Wayne Fagala, Doug Bennett and myself), gave 48 presentations in 45 public high schools with 22,486 students/teachers hearing a clear presentation of the Gospel.
Thank you so much for your willingness to pray for us. Please continue to pray that the seeds which were sown will bear fruit in the hearts of all who heard.

Our assistant director Chris Lowes, along with Eric and Tanya Hovind from Creation Today, have been bringing the evidence for biblical creation and interacting with students at Florida Atlantic University. These are the kind of things that you are supporting!
Thank you so much.
As the 2026-2027 school year starts, we are offering our Without a Doubt flash drive videos which now come with student worksheets for each of the over 100 videos that are now categorized by topic. Put his great resources to use for homeschooling classes or family devotionals.

Prayer Points
-
Prayer for many salvations to result from our school presentations.
-
Prayer for safety and success for the many overseas evangelism efforts.
“I used to think that prayer should have the first place and teaching the second. I now feel it would be truer to give prayer the first, second, and third places and teaching the fourth.” – James Fraser
